HEY, GUYS! So, the purpose of this is to help you guys be better writers! (Suggestion made by Leore, which I appreciate *winky face*)
Among the problems I see, quite frequently, are run-on sentences. A run-on sentence is when you make a sentence with little punctuation, when there should be some. For example: "I ran into her and asked her kindly if I could run into the bakery and grab her some donuts because she looked so pretty." To edit this, you would add commas, where they were needed. Fixed: "I ran into her and asked her, kindly, if I could run into the bakery, to grab her some donuts, because she looked so pretty." Now, I added commas for these reasons: Before the word "to", because it is a preposition. (To, before, after, inside, etc..) I also added a comma before "because", because it begins an explanation, or a different thought. One would also use commas to make a "series." Example: "I went to the pet store and looked at some: dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and fish."
You may also use a comma when you are saying something "under your breath." Example: " I apologized for hitting the, strikingly beautiful, woman."
You should also use a comma when you are addressing a person or group. Example: "No, love, I cannot." The comma is used because I am addressing the person as my "love."
Then there are things like capitalizing. Only capitalize if: You are starting a new sentence, referring to something as a proper noun, referring to a person, referring to a place and referring to anything special.
I will add more to this later, but these are some good tips for now ^^
Oh, and don't be an idiot with this; these are here to help people, not to make you feel superior. It's also good to know the difference between slang and simply bad grammar.
Addition(s?):
The difference between it's and its.
"It's" is a contraction of two words: it & is.
It's important that we know the difference.
"Its" is used to display possession.
